Thailand’s Thepchaiya Un-Nooh will take on China’s Liang Wenbo in an all-Asian final at the SangSom Six Red World Championship on Saturday.
Home favourite Un-Nooh, the world number 47, will be aiming to win a World Snooker Tour event for the first time, while Liang, ranked 21st, has previously won an Asian Tour event as well as the 2011 World Cup alongside Ding Junhui.
The champion at Fashion Island in Bangkok will receive a top prize of 2.5 million Baht, around £45,000.
Un-Nooh, age 30, beat fellow Thai Noppon Saengkham 7-3 in the semi-finals. He built an early 2-0 lead and was always in front.
Liang, age 28, saw off England’s Matthew Selt 7-4. He went 4-1 up with a top break of 68, and although Selt closed to 4-3, Liang took the next two frames and clinched victory in the 11th.
The final starts at 1.30pm local time on Saturday.
