Judd Trump, who won the inaugural Victoria Bulgaria Open in 2012, reached the last 16 again in Sofia with a trio of wins on Friday.
Trump missed last week’s International Championship having lost in the qualifying round, but showed no signs of rustiness as he beat Felix Frede 4-0, Gerard Greene 4-1 and Andrew Higginson 4-2. A break of 126 in his third match was his highest of the day.
World number one Mark Selby also ensured his presence on Sunday by beating Sydney Wilson 4-0, Alfie Burden 4-2 and Eden Sharav 4-2. Breaks of 90 and 53 helped him win the last two frames against Sharav.
Selby’s next opponent will be Dominic Dale, who beat Alan McManus 4-0 in the last 32.
Sam Baird beat Chris Melling 4-0 with a top break of 124 while Haining Open semi-finalist Jimmy Robertson saw off Rod Lawler 4-0.
