The Paul Hunter Classic, named after three-time Masters champion Hunter who died in 2006, started off as a pro-am in 2004 and became a European Tour event in 2010. Snooker has a growing following in Germany and fans come to Fürth from around the country to enjoy watching their heroes.

The 2016 Paul Hunter Classic was won by Mark Selby, beating Tom Ford 4-2 in the final.
