The World Snooker Academy is the sport’s centre of excellence and practice base of leading players including Peter Ebdon and Ding Junhui. From technical coaching on the table to nutritional advice and a psychological insight off it, the 5 day long Junior courses covers every aspect of Snooker.
Players receive daily coaching from a top World Snooker accredited coach to aid their improvement in their technical ability and match play. The coaching involves group coaching with all the students as well as individual coaching to offer more personal advice to every player.
Students are given a talk on nutrition by a qualified personal trainer to teach the importance of healthy eating and the correct foods to help a snooker player achieve their maximum potential. A psychologist from Sheffield Hallam University will engage the students in an interactive lesson to demonstrate the correct ways to approach the game and the psychological techniques used by the top professionals in the game.
There is a tournament held at the end of the week to give the students the opportunity to apply new techniques they have learned over the week. The tournament is handicapped by the coach to give all standards a fair chance with a prize going to the winner.
All students receive a certificate for completing the course.
Nutritious meals are provided within the building. Breakfast starts before practise at 9.30am with lunch following the first session at 1pm. Dinner is provided at 6pm after the final practise session before returning to the accommodation around 7-8pm
