Robertson Goes To Wrong Barnsley For Yushan Qualifiers

Neil Robertson missed out on the chance to qualify for the Yushan World Open as he drove to the wrong location on Friday.

The qualifying round for the world ranking event is being held at the Barnsley Metrodome in Yorkshire, but Robertson, who lives in Cambridge, accidentally set his sat-nav for Barnsley in Gloucestershire.

By the time he realised his error he didn’t have enough time to get 170 miles to the correct destination, so called the tournament director to withdraw from the event and forfeit his match against Ian Burns, who received a walkover and goes through to the final stages in China later this month.

It’s the second time this season that Robertson has had to withdraw due to travel issues as he was one of several players on a flight to Latvia which was cancelled ahead of the Kaspersky Riga Masters in July.

John Higgins came from 2-1 down to beat Chen Zifan 5-2 while Stephen Maguire saw off Oliver Lines by the same scoreline.

Elliot Slessor came from 4-2 down to beat Ryan Day 5-4, making breaks of 79, 82 and 55 in the last three frames.
