Appearing on the Main Tour for the second time with a more relaxed attitude, certainly helped the Pinner potter. His best run came in Belfast at the Northern Ireland Trophy.
He qualified by beating Matthew Selt, David Roe and Mark Davis to make his first venue.
Gould faced Matthew Stevens in the first round but wasn't phased as he came back from 3-0 and 4-3 to earn a 5-4 victory to earn a second round match against Stephen Hendry. He showed his battling qualities again but despite pulling back from 4-1 to 4-3 he couldn't close the gap on the seven time World Champion to lose 5-3.
He also reached the penultimate qualifying round of the 888.com World Championship before narrowly losing to Rory McLeod, 10-8.
Gould earned a place on the pro Tour for the second time by winning the 2007 English Association for Snooker and Billiards play-offs.
He beat David Grace 6-3 in the final at the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds.
Gould has twice been English Amateur champion. He beat Craig Taylor in the 2002 final then took the title again in 2007 when he edged out David Lilley 8-7, thanks to a dramatic in-off from Lilley as he potted the final black.
He appeared in the semi-finals of the 2002 European Championship in Poland then recorded some excellent results on the 2002/03 Challenge Tour and finished top of the Order of Merit to secure a place on the Tour, which he kept for one season.
The Pinner potter enjoyed a tremendous run in the qualifying rounds of the 2003 World Championship. He won eight matches, beating the likes of Alain Robidoux and Stephen Maguire, before he was stopped by Patrick Wallace just two hurdles short of the Crucible.
