Judge continued his climb up the ranking list last season, moving up four spots to No 30.
He lost his opening match in only two of the seven ranking tournaments. His best run came at the Royal London Watches Grand Prix as he battled his way through two round robin groups to reach the last 16, before losing 5-2 to Ronnie O’Sullivan.
He also qualified for the televised stages of the 888.com World Snooker Championship but lost 10-6 to Ryan Day in the first round at the Crucible.
Judge enjoyed a magnificent run at the 2004 Grand Prix. He opened with a 5-4 defeat of Tom Ford then shocked two-times world champion Mark Williams 5-2. The Dubliner went on to beat Marcus Campbell 5-4, Marco Fu 5-1 and Joe Perry 5-1 to reach the semi-finals of a ranking tournament for the first time in his 12 year career.
"I’m absolutely chuffed. This is the best snooker I’ve played,” he said. "Beating Mark Williams has given me the belief to go on." He was denied a place in the final at the Preston Guild Hall by local favourite Ian McCulloch, who triumphed 6-1.
 Judge played a starring role for the Republic of Ireland in the 2001 Coalite Nations Cup at Reading. He was the deciding-frame hero against both England and China as the Republic went all the way to the final.
"Beating some of the top players in the world in front of the TV cameras at the Nations Cup gave me a lot of confidence," said Judge "I came away from that buzzing.”
