1993: Wins his first ranking title at the Grand Prix, beating Ken Doherty in the final in Reading.
1996: Reaches the final of the World Championship for the first time but is denied the title by Stephen Hendry. Climbs to number three in the world.
2002: Enjoys the greatest moment in his career as he wins the World Championship, beating Hendry 18-17 in an epic Crucible final.
2006: Wins the UK Championship in York, knocking out the likes of Mark Selby, Ding Junhui and John Higgins before a 10-6 final win over Hendry. Reaches his third Crucible final but loses to Graeme Dott.
2012: Wins his ninth ranking title at the China Open in Beijing, beating the likes of John Higgins, Neil Robertson and Ding Junhui to reach the final before edging out Stephen Maguire 10-9.
2018: Reaches his 18th ranking event final at the Paul Hunter Classic but loses 4-2 to Kyren Wilson.
