  • Bond reached his first ranking semi-final in 14 years at the 2016 Indian Open in Hyderabad. The former World finalist beat the likes of Ricky Walden and Peter Ebdon to reach the last four, before losing out to Kyren Wilson. He made the semi-final stage again later on in the season at the 2017 Gibraltar Open.
  • Bond’s best run of the 2015/16 season came at the 2015 Gibraltar Open where he knocked out Jack Lisowski, Ben Woolaston and Daniel Wells before losing to Stuart Bingham in the last 16.
  • He lost to eventual finalist Ding Junhui in the final round of qualifying for the 2016 World Championships.
  • Bond was World Seniors Champion in 2012. He beat the likes of Dennis Taylor and Tony Knowles before seeing off Tony Chappel 2-0 in the final.
  • In 2011, he won the Snooker Shoot-Out in Blackpool, his first professional title in 14 years. He knocked out the likes of Stephen Lee, Mark King and Marcus Campbell to reach the final of the one-frame event before beating Rob Milkins 58 points to 24 to take the title.
  • The highlight of Bond’s career was the 1996 British Open final when he came from the ‘snookers required’ stage at 69-0 down in the deciding frame against John Higgins to snatch a famous 9-8 victory.
  • The previous year he reached the final on the biggest stage of all, but on that occasion he couldn’t stop Stephen Hendry clinching his fourth consecutive world title, with an 18-9 loss.
  • An accounts clerk for Derbyshire County Council before he started his snooker career, Bond lives at number 147 in his road in Old Tupton.
