  • 2015 Masters
  • The Magician scored a superb victory at the 2017 Champion of Champions. He had previously never won a match at the event, but took home the title on this occasion with victories over Mark King, Michael White, Luca Brecel and Ronnie O’Sullivan.
  • Murphy scooped his silverware late on in the 2016/17 season when he lifted the 2017 Gibraltar Open title in March. He defeated an in-form Judd Trump 4-2 in the final to secure his seventh ranking crown.
  • Murphy won the 2016 World Grand Prix in Llandudno. He defeated Michael White, Martin Gould, Liang Wenbo and Ding Junhui to reach the final. Murphy secured the title after edging out Stuart Bingham in a 10-9 thriller.
  • His year ended in disappointment after a 10-8 loss in a high quality match with Anthony McGill in the last 32 of the World Championship.
  • Murphy enjoyed an excellent 2014/15 season. During the first half of his campaign he won back-back European Tour events, beating Martin Gould 4-2 in the final of the Bulgarian Open and Robert Milkins 4-0 to win the Ruhr Open in Germany. In the second of those finals, Murphy made a 147, the fifth maximum of his career.
  • Things then got even better for the Nottingham-based potter as he lifted the 2015 Masters. After knocking out Mark Selby, Stephen Maguire and Mark Allen, Murphy scored a brilliant 10-2 victory over Neil Robertson in the final. It was his first ever Masters title and made him one of only ten players to have won the Triple Crown of World, UK and Masters titles.
  • He then enjoyed a fantastic run at the Crucible in the 2015 World Championships. Seeing off Robin Hull, Joe Perry, Anthony McGill and Barry Hawkins to earn a spot in the final. He led Stuart Bingham 8-4, but was denied the opportunity to become a multiple World Champion as Bingham came back to earn an 18-15 victory.
  • During the 2013/14 season, Murphy won his fifth ranking title at the World Open in China, beating Mark Selby 10-6 in the final.
  • Murphy won the 2008 UK Championship, getting the better of a thrilling final against Marco Fu, taking a tense deciding frame for a 10-9 victory.
  • He secured a place in snooker history in 2005 with a remarkable World Championship victory at the Crucible. Murphy became only the second ever qualifier to win snooker’s biggest title, after Terry Griffiths in 1979. He was also the second youngest winner, after Stephen Hendry in 1979. After beating Chris Small, John Higgins and Peter Ebdon, he then came from 10-6 down overnight to beat Matthew Stevens 18-16, finishing the match in style with breaks of 97 and 83 in the last two frames.
  • Away from the table, Murphy is a fanatical golfer and plays to a single figure handicap. He enjoys learning languages, reading and music and is an accomplished Piano player.
