Mahitthi enjoyed his best result of the 2008/09 season in the Bahrain Snooker Championship qualifiers, with a run to the last 48 before narrowly losing out to Steve Davis 5-4. He maintained his place on the Tour finishing in eighth place on the one year list for those players missing out on an official top 64 placing.
Mahitthi enjoyed the greatest moment of his career in November 2007 when he won the World Amateur Championship.
He beat fellow Thai player Pasakorn Suwannawat 11-7 in the final in Korat to land the most prestigious title in amateur snooker.
Victory also earned Mahitthi a place on the 2008/09 professional Tour.
In a previous spell on the circuit, he reached the last 48 of the 2002 LG Cup. He won four qualifying matches to get through to the Guild Hall in Preston, but lost 5-1 to David Gray.
