Norman endured a disappointing 2008/09 season, failing to qualify for the venue stage of any of the eight ranking events.
He had to rely on a wild card to keep his place on the Tour for 2009/10. The part-time van driver must deliver the goods this time if he is to retain his pro status.
Norman reached one ranking event venue during the 2007/08 season. In the Royal London Watches Grand Prix he finished top of his qualifying group, losing just one match. But in Aberdeen he was only able to win one of his five group matches.
The Bristol player lost his opening match in five of the other six ranking events and dropped 12 places to No 54.
In 2006/07, Norman enjoyed the best season of his career. He reached the last 16 before losing to the eventual winner, Neil Robertson.
"Next season I want to get into the top 32. I’m not bothered how I do it, even if I didn’t appear on TV once but I achieved that then I’d be happy," he said.
The former World Snooker Young Player of Distinction also reached the last 16 of the Grand Prix the previous year, beating Robertson before losing 5-4 to Michael Holt.
