The world ranking event will run from July 8 to 14 at Bendigo Stadium in Victoria. It will be the third consecutive staging of the tournament and Barry Hawkins will be defending the title.
Tourism and Major Events Minister, Louise Asher, made the announcement, identifying the event as a highlight in Victoria's world-class regional events calendar.
"The Australian Goldfields Open showcases images of our historic Goldfields region including Bendigo and Melbourne through a significant global broadcast including key tourism markets such as the United Kingdom and China," Ms Asher said.
"The event brings the world's top snooker players to Bendigo, including Victoria's own Neil Robertson, providing an opportunity to see a world-class sporting event in regional Victoria. The Open was secured by the Victorian Government as a new international addition to Victoria's calendar of exciting, world-class sporting and cultural events that thrill and entertain Victorians and visitors alike."
Australian's top player Neil Robertson, the 2010 World Champion, said: "It's great to play in front of a home crowd, there's absolutely nothing like it. Coming home to Victoria is something I look forward to throughout the year. In 2013 I hope I can win the trophy in front of my family and friends."
