Marco Fu qualified for the Haikou World Open witth a 5-2 defeat of Matthew Selt which was highlighted by the second maximum break of his career.

 

Fu, from Hong Kong which is close to Hainan Island where the tournament will be played, scored the 147 in the sixth frame to go 4-2 up. It's the 86th maximum in snooker history, ninth of the season and eighth within the past eight weeks. The break earned Fu a £500 bonus.

 

Devon's 23-year-old Sam Baird qualified for a ranking event venue for the first time in his career by coming from 3-1 down to beat World No 17 Mark Davis 5-4. Davis made a 137 to go 3-1 ahead but then lost four of the next five frames as Baird fired in runs of 63, 68, 55 and 75.

 

Rob Milkins beat Ryan Day 5-0 with a top break of 122 while Jamie Cope saw off Jamie Burnett 5-1 with a best effort of 93.

 

Marcus Campbell came from 3-0 down to beat Alfie Burden 5-3, closing with a run of 138.
