Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield will once again host the qualifying rounds of snooker's World Championship in April.

The qualifying event runs from April 8 to 15 with players seeded outside the top 16 battling for one of 16 coveted spots in the televised stages of the sport's biggest tournament at the Crucible Theatre.


Famous names such as Jimmy White, Ken Doherty and Peter Ebdon could be among the stars joining up-and-coming talents to compete to get their name in the draw for the final stages. Ten-time World Ladies Champion Reanne Evans will also be in action


The seeding cut off to determine the top 16 seeds falls on Monday 6 April after the China Open. The draw and format of play for the qualifiers will be available shortly after this date.


There's a new structure for the qualifying rounds this year, with all players needing to win three matches to earn a place at the Crucible. All former World Champions will be given the chance to enter, as well as leading amateur players from around the globe.
