Isaac Fulfils American Dream

Sargon Isaac

Sargon Isaac lifts the trophy for the second time

Three years after he won his first title, Sargon Isaac captured the United States National Snooker Championship for the second time with a 5-3 victory in the final over Ahmed Aly Elsayed at the Prince Snooker Club in Brooklyn, New York.

Californian Isaac, who originally hails from Nottingham in England though is now a US citizen, beat Raymond Fung 4-3 in the semi-finals before a tremendous battle with Aly in the final.

Brooklyn’s Aly, going for a fourth title after last winning it in 2011, went 2-0 up with a top break of 51, and also made a 55 in frame three, but Isaac recovered to snatch it on the black. The fourth frame also went to Isaac on the black as he made it 2-2 at the interval.

The next two were shared, before Isaac rose to the occasion by taking the last two frames for a 5-3 success.

Both players have now gained automatic selection to represent the United States in the Men’s Event of this year’s IBSF World Snooker Championship, which will take place in Cape Town, South Africa, from November 2-14 (TBC).
