It’s quickfire knock-out action with all matches lasting a maximum of ten minutes.
Finland’s Hull, who beat Luca Brecel in the final last year, trailed Mei Xiwen 40-1 in the opening match this time but made a stunning 73 clearance to book his place in the last 64.
Hawkins comfortably beat Hatem Yaseen 37-4 while Whirlwind White made an impressive break of 58 to see off Louis Heathcote.
The most dramatic moment of the day came in Michael Holt’s match against amateur Joshua Thomond. With a few seconds to go, Thomond was at the table leading 28-25 and just needed to play a safety shot to win. But in flicking off a red he accidentally sent the cue ball in-off, gifting Holt four points and victory as the clock ticked to zero.

There was also an exciting finish for Daniel Wells as he fluked the last red in his match against Ian Burns, before potting to black to win with a few seconds remaining.
Iran’s Hossein Vafaei beat China’s Yan Bingtao 56-19
Top break of the day came from former World Champion Graeme Dott as he made a 96 to beat Mitchell Mann.
The random draw for the last 64 will take place towards the end of Friday afternoon’s session.
