More tickets were sold for the Coral Welsh Open than any other Coral Home Nations event this season.
The Coral Home Nations series was added to the calendar for the first time this season, with brand new events in Manchester, Belfast and Glasgow.
But it was the established Coral Welsh Open – which has been running since 1992 – which attracted most fans. Supporters flocked to the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff to see the world’s top players.
Each Coral Home nations event featured 128 players starting off in a flat draw. A £1 million bonus was on offer for any player who could win all four events, but in the end there were four different players taking the silverware.
Liang Wenbo and Mark King both captured their first ranking titles with victory in Manchester and Belfast respectively. Marco Fu took the trophy in Glasgow then Stuart Bingham won the title in Cardiff.
